Wanted

I have a confession to make...

I'm an action movie girl all the way. I don't like movies about animals. I don't like movies that make me cry. And I hate movies about animals that make me cry. I have never seen "Free Willy" (not counting my husband and I's own private re-enactments), "Lassie", "Seabiscuit" or "The Horse Whisperer." Even having an animal in the title will do it for me, like "Dances with Wolves". Of course, Kevin Costner might have been the deterrent in that movie.

After repeatedly watching "Dora Saves the Snow Princess", sometimes I need a little mindless violence in my movies. The more ridiculous, the better. The movie we watched this weekend fell in that catergory.

We rented "Wanted". Is was the first "grown up" movie my husband and I have seen in a really, really long time. And I liked it. It had all the prerequsites to making a really good action movie: Completely unrealistic car chases/tricks? Check. Secret societies/ conspiracies? Check. Angelina Jolie? Check. Hot guy that needed more screen time? Check.

Photobucket

Beef carcasses? Check.

Dorky guy, turned assassin? Of course.

Gun tricks that make my gun enthusiast husband roll his eyes? Gotta have that. There were even exploding rats. Good stuff.

I love James Bond. I love Blade. But let me be clear...I do not love Chuck Norris.

A girl has to have standards.

thank you for reminding me that i wanted to see this movie. angelina jolie is my girlfriend--she just doesn't know it yet. and Common (the hot guy in the picture with her) makes me drool. i didn't realize he was in it.

i too have seen 'Dora saves the snow princess' more times than any reasonable adult ever should.

Norris is gay...really... who likes him?

Is it me or does her arm look freakish in that picture?

i'm not a huge angelina fan. she's just too weird to me (wearing billy bob's blood? making out w/sibling?!). and i can't get over the whole home-wrecker thing...

the movie, however, was pretty good. and i'm with ya on the "dora saves the crystal kingdom" thing...

I love action flicks. The more stuff blows up, the better the movie! My personal favorite is either Armageddon or Fifth Element. :) Bruce Willis.

LOL!! Chuck Norris.... The Man has a book of Chuck Norrisisms in his bathroom. Ridiculous, I know...

I am so with you, don't get chuck norris either. can't blame you on the action films after watching kid stuff.

I am no fan of Chuck Norris either, but my movie preferences are love stories and comedies. I am an old softy who wants to tear up when the guy doesn't get the girl of vice versa. I also love to laugh (that's why I never miss your blogs)because I think real life is serious enough, and comedy is a release. (What I won't watch: anything involving children being hurt or horror movies! Heck, I'm still scared of the boogie man!! LOL!! :0

I am sooo with you on all of that! I love action movies too. I grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies with my dad. And I don't do Chuck Norris, either!

What's not to like about Chuck Norris?

He's got an amazing hot body for a 75 year old, he loves guns and manly man stuff (I bet he even shoots poor defenseless animals - that's such a turn on) he's an amazing actor, and I would totally LOVE to run my fingers through his hair piece...

You, my friend, are missing out.

Right, cause what's a movie without beef carcasses LOL!

Never heard of this movie! The verdict it out on Chuck Norris for me---my dad loves him and he is from my hometown (or at least went to high school there!)

I wanna see that one, as long as Chuck Norris isn't in it! I'm taking your advice and since we have it, I'm gonna do it!

I think I'll move that one to the top of my netflix list - sounds like great family movie time.

My mom likes to watch things blow up.

A movie isn't a movie without a few good explosions. I don't want to cry while being entertained either.

However, I have to take the opposing side of the Chuck Norris debate, as I have a soft spot for truly awful action flicks...the kind you spend the whole time mocking. Very few people are the source of as many good jokes as Chuck Norris. What's not to like?

You are cracking me up! Is that the one where they pull him into being a hit man? I get my movies all mixed up. (Hey, Free Willy was pretty good though.) I've been finding I like action movies more and more...

I like action movies too. Not very good for movies that make me cry as I can be such a softie when they tug my heart strings. Once in a while, it's fine - clear the eye ducts:)

I am with you completely... 100% veto on movies with animals. Old Yellar seriously traumatized me as a child! No serious movies that will make me cry.

At this point, I think enough while at work. When I go to the movies, I just want to be entertained. Action movies are the best for that.

Wanted? Awesome. Secret societies, fancy guns, assassins, check.

Wait, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T LIKE CHUCK NORRIS? :-)

Oh! By the way, thanks for the comment on mine. I think you are following me? I don't know how this fancy science works, lol. Anyways, I'm adding your button to my site!
