Oh so thankful for Axl Rose and ice cream and long naps in the sun

Ahhh...Thanksgiving is a day for food, family and all that jazz.

So, I sent my husband and the kids to the in-laws house for food, family and all that jazz. And I stayed home. Alone. All afternoon. Ahh. Bliss. I had a big bowl of ice cream for lunch and read some blogs. Then like a cat, I curled up in the sun streaming through the window, and took a long nap.

Now, I'm drinking tea and I have my music playing (no Laurie Berkner today, thank you very much), rather loudly. What am I listening to, you ask? Why I'm listening to good 'ol Axl Rose, "...been hiding out and laying low...you can always find a place to go if you can keep your sanity..." Good Thanksgiving music, I thought.

Here's a nice picture of Axl, before he got weird (er). Speaking of him...did anyone out there buy "Chinese Democracy"? I was wondering if it was any good.

Anyway...what were we talking about?

Oh. Thanksgiving.

Before you go thinking, "man, that girl is terrible! Stiffing her family like that on Thanksgiving!" let me clarify. I stayed home as a public service, really. Lately, we've had a bit of a flu problem in the house. Temps of of 104.9 (!), throwing up, coughing, rashes, all that good stuff. When I woke up this morning, I had a sore throat and had a headache. And I'm coughing so hard, I fear I'm going to dislodge my gallbladder. So, I decided I'd stay home and not cough on the turkey or old people.

I was like Typhoid Mary last night, making pumpkin pies.

Want a slice?? Here, you can spray it with a little Lysol. I'm sure it will be fine.

I expect my lovely family to stumble in at anytime with a nice plate of leftovers for me.

I think I might skip the pie though.

I stayed home also! Sometimes alone time is precious! I see your name quite a bit also, but you know how it is, you can see people for months sometimes before you click over! I heard one song off of Chinese Democracy and it was not bad. Axl really needs slash, though. They are like Joe Perry and Steven Tyler, genius together, mediocre apart!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

That actually sounds like heaven...thanks for stopping by today and Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
(The leftovers are the best, anyways)

My kids and husband all have a cold and I cannot count how many times I have asked them (sometimes even hubby) to cough in their elbows! I warned my kids that I was going to eat alone if they tried to spew their germs all over the turkey day spread, and it actually worked. Hmm, it's a real wonder.
I hope you feel better quickly, and thank you for making me feel better about my mommy anxiety...

Sorry you are feeling under the weather but I am glad you got to stay home and relax and still get the good food. I always wish I had Thanksgiving leftovers but this year sadly I was glad I did not.

First of all, I was listening to "Appetite for Destruction" a couple of days ago. Specifically, "Mr. Brownstone." I am stuck in the eighties. I'm still in love with Jon Bon Jovi, too. That love affair will never go away.

Second, I'm sorry you are feeling ill! But, hey, I bet the alone time was worth it! And thank you for telling me how to receive the email comments. I finally figured it out!

I've heard one track off of Chinese Democracy played once. That was it. As much of an impression as I could get from that, mine was that Axl is still on top of his game, but he really was only a quarter of what made Guns n' Roses great, and at 1/4 strength Guns n' Roses aren't great.

Feel better!

Taking a few hours to read some favorite blogs...one of my favorite things to do and something I have done very little of in recent days. You still have time to stop by my holiday blog and be eligible for 2 great giveaways.....

I'll pass on the pie, but I'm not a pumpkin pie fan, anyway! ;) Hope you're feeling better and good for you getting some much needed rest. Happy T-day!

It sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving!

I went and about killed myself gorging on pecan pie. I was like a goldfish--just couldn't stop!

When I'm stuck at the in-law's tomorrow, I'll think of you and Axl Rose and sunshine and be very, very jealous.

Except of the flu. We just got over it, and it was not pretty. So you have my sympathies there!

Great soundtrack! I am recovering from a rough health week and did ALL the cooking for Thanksgiving for 11 people. I may commit myself to an assylum...

Guns & Roses...Sweet Child O' Mine was one of my fsvorites! That was like THE best band ever in the late 80's early 90's, right?!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
