Happy Birthday Nick!

6 years ago I was laying in a hospital bed, sore and tired. Overwhelmed and blissful. Terrified. And so happy.

6 years ago, my firstborn was, well, born. I had checked in at about 8:00am and soon after, my water broke. I had chosen to go unmedicated, so I stood in the shower in my room, the water as hot as I could get it, clenching the handicap rail for dear life, moaning and whimpering. All those things I worried about before I went into labor: pooping on the doctor, my modesty, unwanted in-laws in the delivery room...all those went out the window. I realized quickly that I didn't care if the entire city was in my hospital room and I pooped on all of them, JUST. MAKE. IT. STOP. OH. MY. GOD. AHHHHHHHHH! OW...OW...OW...OW.

Fortunately, after only a few hours and only 3 pushes (I know, I know...I'm sorry) Nick entered the world at 12:51 pm, 6 pounds, 10.9 ounces and 20 inches long.

That was the day my life changed forever. That was the day I met that amazing soul I know as my son. Who makes me laugh with his chicken dance and his old man walk. Who infuriates me with his attitude and stubborness. Who amazes me with the things he says and the insight he has...

I love ya kid. Happy Birthday.

Awww....Happy Birthday to Nick!

I was LOL because I was so worried too...the poop...the audience. After awhile I didn't have a shred of modesty left. Funny thing, labor pains.

Wishing you an awesome Friday!!!

Remember ever moment of today. Trust me. My three little boys are now 19, 17 & 15. I'm still not sure when that happened.

PS. High five on the fast labors. Did it three times myself and people are still mad at me for it!

Happy birthday to Nick!

Don't apologize for your fast labour. I had one exceptionally long labour and one that was an hour from first twinge to "OMG, here he comes!". Fast births are some seriously intense and sometimes scary shit, and people who hate on you for 'having it easy' don't have a freaking clue what they're talking about. Just my two cents!

Isn't it funny how all of the things you worry about while you're pregnant just fade away when you're in labor? They could have brought in a group of tourists and a doctor with a chain saw and I wouldn't have even blinked when I was in labor with my son.

That's a handsome boy you've got! I'll bet all the girls are crazy about him.

Happy Birthday Nick!!!

Oh, I wish it had only taken a few pushes for my first! My water didn't break in either pregnancy-they had to break it (gross!!!), and I gave my daughter a "bananna head" because she would come out, then go back in, then out...

Isn't it funny about the pain-not so much the pain-that's not funny-but not really caring about anything else? Heck, I had people going in and out of my room and I didn't give a flying leap! Enjoy the day.

I'm jealous of your birth story! My son will owe me the rest of his life after what I went through to bring him into this world! Just kidding...sort of.

And I didn't care about modesty anymore either. I was so delirious afterwards that I pulled my boob out in front of my husband's best friend and starting breastfeeding without any embarassment whatsoever!

There is something for you at my place today.

I thought of you this weekend...my daughter was helping me bake and stirring the flour and it basically exploded all over her and there was flour all in her hair.
