Flashback Friday! Toys!

For today's Flashback, I decided to pull out a few of the old toys that I have. They are all things I used to play with and still have. I have many, many more but I didn't feel like crawling through the spider-infested storage closet to dig through boxes. So, these were a few of the more accessible ones...Anyone remember these?

Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake (before she got all sexy), Baby Beth and KERMIE! I remember leaving SS outside in the driveway and it started to rain. My mom wouldn't go out and get her because she had told me to bring her in and I hadn't. I sat at the window and watched her lay there, getting soaked. She never smelled quite the same again.

Ms PacMan

The Littles! I still have the house and all the furniture. The furniture is metal and it's all so well made. Unlike the plastic stuff everything is today. There is even a little toilet and the drawers open on the dresser. In kindergarten we moved and I lost the Baby Little (which was the size of a fingernail). I was crushed. But somehow I managed to hang onto the little cups, plates and the little lamp. And the bedspread!

The cute little stove and the bowl/pot.

The sink. The little shelves are removable and look how tiny the cups are! How I managed to not lose them in nearly 30 years surely counts as a miracle.

See the little lamp? Why don't they make toys this awesome anymore??

Okay, clearly I am older than you. My flashback dolls are Raggedy Ann and a bunch of creepy dolls with eyes that were either painted on or eyes that would get stuck in openinng/closing. Creepy, creepy. CREEPY!

The only two cool dolls were either Baby Alive, that you could feed fake applesauce to (disgusting) or the Crissy doll that grew hair. (on her head)

I'm a little older too although I do remember the Littles. I used to have the Liddle Kiddles. They were little like that as well.

I remember my Velvet and Crissy dolls and my Incredible Edible that made creepy crawler type gummy candy that tasted just like plastic but we ate it anyway. I also remember my doll, Tiny Tears. She peed and supposedly cried real tears but my twin and I decided that she was crying for some real food and we fed our Tiny Tears mushed up crackers and it clogged up her tear ducts. LOL

Thanks for the blast from the past!

I cannot believe you still have all those things! Good for you! (I love Kermie too!)

They don't make things like this anymore because they're made to last, and if they last, maybe you won't buy other things... True story.

I still have a lot of the toys I had when I was a kid. I couldn't wait to give my daughter all of my Barbie stuff, but it turns out she's not that interested in Barbie.

I think I'm older than you, so I don't remember the Littles, but I do remember the Little Kiddles that Chocolate Covered Daydreams mentioned. I loved them! I had one that came in her own plastic "perfume bottle". She smelled like perfume, too.

You're right, toys were made so much sturdier in the past. The Polly Pocket furniture my daughter has is just awful. If you play with it more than once or twice it seems to fall apart.

I had Cookie Monster (and still do), Time-Me-Tell, and a doll who's hair grew when you pulled it from the top of her head. (I can't remember her name.) I can't get over how you managed to save the cups!!! My dolls are all missing their underwear, socks, and shoes.

Ok...I know they bring back great memories for you...but they are a little creepy to me. Do they come alive at night? Ever feel Strawberries plastic hand in your hair...caressing your locks as you sleep. I'm freaking myself out now. Thanks for coming by today. Have a great weekend. Holly at LLL
